HI,
I am trying to create APIConnectGateway Service in DataPower for Integration with APIC 2018 CMC.

I am using DataPower virtual box with Firmware 2018.4.1.7.After creating the service is going to the pending state.

Debug logs also don't have much info.

I have removed the password for private key while creating ssl.

Does Anyone have any idea on this.


And also is it mandatory that APIC and Datapower fixpack levels should be same for APIC2018.

Hi Pradeep, what you mean by creating an "APIConnectGateway Service"? Are you trying to create an API?
About the fix packs, there is no impact, if APIC is 2018, the Gateways should be simple in the 2018 version too.
I would also recommend if possible that you can provide some screenshots. It´s not clear to me what exactly you are doing.

Thanks for the response.My issue has been resolved.
The exact issue is For APIC 2018 version I need create a domain and enable the service APIConnect Gateway in DataPower.
When I am trying to do eanble the service in V5 compatibilty mode the service is going to pending state.
Actaully I am Datapower version 2018.4.1.7 and it seems  that this version has some issue with APIConnect Gateway service when RBM is enabled for user authentcation.

So as mentioned on the APAR I have changed RBM authentication fallback to all users.
After the service is in up state and everything is working fine now.

Maybe you just need to enable the fallback for the user you use to connect the CMC to the Gateways.

I believe IBM recommend that the API Management components and the DataPower are on the same version (i.e. 2018.4.1.7).
Are you using a single gateway? Or a cluster of 3 for quorum with a gateway peering group?
I think you need to provide a bit more information. I can tell you I've installed and configured in a number of different environments using the instructions above and they work. Can you also confirm there is network connectivity between your cloud manager on the API manager and your datapower domain?

Thanks for the responses.
Actually my issues has been resolved.
I am using APIC version 2018.4.1.8 and Datapower version 2018.4.1.7.
I faced issues because,APIC connect gateway service uses some hidden local user to create MPGW in v5 compatibility mode.
And when RBM authentication is enabled with only fallback as admin then there will be issue.
So to mitigate this I have made all users as fallback users in RBM.After that my issue has been resolved.

As of now the setup is running fine.
Regarding the version compatibility yes as per IBM docs both APIC and Datapower version should be matched.
But when IBM guys where at our site regarding APIC 2018 clarifications they same version compatibility is not mandatory requirement.
But anyhow we are going to clarify with IBM one more time regarding the same.


And I just want to ask you do we have documentation regarding the Troubleshooting the issues with cloud and also in APIC v5 we used to have health check commands cluster status and anlyitics status commands.I feel documentation is not good for APIC 2018 in Knowledge center.

Regarding your question I am using Single Gateway.We have bulit this as POC environment as we want to test everything related to our environment before we migrate form APIC V5 to APIC V2018.
