We are accessing it over a VPN from our corporate office and every time we telnet into it and run "ls -la" it hangs. However if I telnet into the AIX box from one of our other location it does not hang. Also if I telnet into that AIX box from our switch in our corporate office it does not hang the telnet session either. Its only when we are opening telnet from any of the computers in our corporate LAN.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Some one I was talking to blamed it on the VLAN and routing however if there was any issue with the VLAN and/or routing I wouldn't be able to get into it from our switch either.

Are you able to get to anything in your corporate office (past the switch) FROM your AIX server?

VLAN1: 10.5.0.0/21
VLAN2: 10.5.9.0/24

I can telnet into the AIX box that is in our Data Center from any of the hosts from any of the VLAN's. However every time I run "ls -la" it hangs and then times out.

Now comes the interesting part. If I telnet into the L3 switch from any of the VLAN's and then telnet into the AIX box from this switch every thing works fine.

Issue has been resolved. Hopefully this will help some one else in the same situation. I had to call Juniper for help. Issue was on the two Juniper Netscreen firewalls "tcp-mss" values were not set. Juniper recommends "tcp-mss" value to be 1350. After entering the value on both ends every thing worked beautiful.
