    'Start Services' has completed successfully

Then a ps shows nothing and i4cfg -list shows nothing.

I have double checked my ifor installation and it is as follows:

    bos.rte.ifor_ls 5.3.0.50 COMMITTED iFOR/LS Libraries
ifor_ls.base.cli 5.3.0.30 COMMITTED License Use Management Runtime
ifor_ls.java.gui 5.3.0.10 COMMITTED License Use Management Runtime

I came across the problem trying to install the C for AIX license. This is a new LPAR on a new machine we are getting ready to go live with.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First I went through the process of making sure LUM started clean by following some help found in REDBOOK TechNote ref "GRL-2050 LUM Error when clonong AIX ...". It did not exactly match my problem, but caused some different thinking that lead to my solution.

    as root:

    1. export PATH=$PATH:/usr/opt/ifor/ls/os/aix/bin
    2. cd /var/ifor
    3. i4cfg -stop
    4. rm i4ls.ini *.dat *.idx (here I also added *.bak *.lck)
    5. i4cnvini
    6. i4cfg -a n -S a -n n -b null
    7. i4cfg -start

after running these commands my LUM was still not active. I viewed the nodelock file and found licenses in it that I could not identify and that I did not install. Since this is a new partition and I set it up, I am still curious where they came from, so I renamed the file and started again. going through the same steps 1 - 7 as before, I was able to install my c for AIX license and run the compiler. I will now wait to see if we have any applicatin problems bocking at licenses that I did not install.

Hope this helps anyone that may be having similar problems.
