We went through a similar upgrade over the last couple of years:
- We had 4 x SV1's and 2 x SV2's in our cluster
- Then did an SVC code upgrade from 8.2.x to 8.5.0.x a couple of years ago
- Then this year we replaced two of the SV1's with SV3's, meaning we had a cluster of SV1 & SV2 & SV3
- We then removed the SV1's from the cluster to decom them as we had more than enough processing power from SV2/3's to cover the workload
- And now we are processing an upgrade of 8.5.0.x code to 8.7.0.x.
So it's a known process of upgrade, get to 8.5.0.x to then be able to add in your SV3's. Add your SV3's by swapping out the SV1's one by one. Then with SV2/SV3 you can upgrade beyond 8.5.0.x.
Cheers, Andy

Subject: Adding SV3 with SV1/SV2 Cluster
Hi,
We have an existing cluster of SV1/SV2 running version 8.3.1.5, we acquired two new SV3 running version 8.7 and want to integrate them to the cluster.
Reading the documentation, the only path is to upgrade existing to 8.5.0 and then add the SV3 (not sure if we need to downgrade to 8.5), since 8.5 is end of support, we worry about having an issue on this procedure.
Any help or guidance regarding this.
Thank you
