Greeting fellow ITPF Users. I have browsed through the various training topics on ITPF and don't seem to be able to find a training topic specifically related to adding a custom column to the Contracts 'module' in ITPF. Specifically, here is what we are trying to do:

- Add two date columns to Contracts View only (Contract Effective Start and End Dates)

- These columns will not impact any of the 'math' of the contract modules (we just want to be able to filter on them)

- These columns should be of 'date' type and only accept valid dates

Can anyone point me to training related to just adding columns to contracts? We don't want this added to labor, assets, etc. etc.

Tagging in as I'm interested in whether there is a different answer than this one.  When a custom dimension is added, it applies to all tabs.  The column can be removed from the default layout on the tabs where it isn't used.

A Custom Dimension will create a drop down column and is available for all tabs.  A Custom Column will be free form and will only be available on the tabs that it is inserted on.

Please note Admins can remove/delete Custom Dimensions from the reference data.  However, it would take a support ticket to remove a Custom Column.

I have not been able to find specific instructions on how to add the column, this article references adding a column though:

What is the difference between an attribute in the line items view, an additional column in the reference data and a custom dimension? 

The Labor, Contracts and Assets tab have their own fields and the Summary and Other tabs share fields.  If you insert a column to on the Contracts tab it will not automatically appear on the other tabs. 

If you want the field to flow to the Summary tab, you would have to insert a column on Summary tab with the same name as well.  Also, if you would like this field to be in the actuals, you will need to insert the column with the same name in Spend Management as well.

Perfect solution and fast!!! Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. In the contracts tab, you just right click in the header to add a custom column. 

Does any other vendor have a forum like this that has this level of expertise responding?  Not in my experience!

I noticed your comment of adding a column with a 'date' type and wanting to filter on that. I don't believe that you can filter on a column of that type. I had the same issue when implementing.
