  • 1.  About the setting of Hyper-threading when install zD&T on vm(esxi)

    Posted Tue June 25, 2019 02:17 AM

    Hi all,
    I will be plan that  install zD&T v11.0.2 on RHELv6.4 of vm(esxi v6.0).
I know better setting that Hyper threading is off for avoid "spinloop problem".
So,I have question about this things.

About Hyper Threading option written "off to BIOS level" from Redbook of zPDT.
If zD&T will install to vm,Hyper threading setting need off "BIOS" level?
Can zD&T avoid "spinloop problem" when Hyper threading to off in "Virtual Machine" level ?
(At this time, it is ON at the BIOS level of vm host.)

I want setting Hyper threading to off in  "Virtual Machine" level.

    Thanks,

    Ketthal,
I am currently reaching out to zPDT support (emulator support) to get a definitive answer to your inquiry but my current understanding is that configuring the virtual device's BIOS to disable Hyper threading should prevent the issue.  My team does not support this level of the emulator and I need a response from the zPDT team to validate what I believe is the supported solution for this, but regrettably there are vacations on that team preventing me from getting you a timely response.  I will update you once I get a response.
