We're excited to announce the latest update to IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps with our 4.8.1 release. Based on your feedback, we've developed several key enhancements that will help you streamline operations, gain better insights, and improve your team's efficiency. Let's dive into what's new and how these features address your real-world challenges.
Policy Migration: From Test to Production with Confidence
One requested capability from our customers has been an easier way to move policies between environments. We've heard from many of you who develop and test policies in pre-production environments before deploying to production.
With our new AIOps Policy Migration feature, you can now:
- Use the Policies UI to export your Cloud Pak for AIOps policies and import them into a different deployment
- Configure the migration post-installation to ensure your new environment has the exact same policy configurations
- Save significant time by eliminating manual policy recreation
- Reduce the risk of configuration errors when moving from testing to production
You can now create and refine your policies in your development environment, knowing you can transfer them to production with confidence.
Streamlined Alert Management Interface
We understand how important screen real estate is when managing large volumes of alerts so we've made the checkbox column in the Alert list optional.
With this update:
- The checkbox column is hidden by default after upgrading to 4.8.1
- You can enable the checkbox column through a new user preference in the Alert Viewer
- This setting works in both the stand-alone alert list and the Incident alert list
- You gain additional horizontal space to display alert information that matters most to you
This seemingly small change can make a significant difference in your daily operations, allowing you to see more critical alert data without scrolling horizontally.
Enhanced Analytics Visualization with IBM Cognos Analytics
To help you derive more value from your operational data, we've continued to enhanced our integration with IBM Cognos Analytics. This integration now offers:
- IBM Db2 Integration: Store alert and incident data directly in Db2, creating a foundation for advanced analytics
- New Widgets: Leverage the new Incident list widget and Button widget to build more informative custom dashboards
- Example Dashboards: Learn from pre-built examples that showcase best practices for visualizing AIOps data
This integration brings your AIOps data to life, allowing you to:
- Create custom dashboards and reports tailored to your organization's needs
- Utilize IBM Cognos Analytics directly from the Cloud Pak for AIOps console
- Share operational intelligence with stakeholders across your organization
Greater Transparency in Alert Grouping
When investigating an incident containing multiple alerts, you'll notice enhanced information in the Alert details side panel whenever you select an alert that's part of a group. The panel displays information about the underlying grouping mechanism - whether it's temporal, topological, or scope-based.
For scope-based groupings specifically, we've added a direct navigation link: "Scope-based policy associated to this alert". Clicking this link takes you immediately to the exact policy in the Policies UI that caused these alerts to be grouped together. This direct connection eliminates the need to search through policy configurations manually, saving valuable time during incident investigation.
This enhancement provides several key benefits:
- Instant visibility into why alerts were grouped together
- Quick access to the specific policies driving alert correlation
- Reduced troubleshooting time by eliminating policy hunting
These enhancements were developed based on your input, and we remain committed to continuously improving Cloud Pak for AIOps to meet your evolving needs. We invite you to try these new features and share your experiences with us.
