UDS instance creation fails during MAS installation

  • 1.  UDS instance creation fails during MAS installation

    When I try to install MAS v8.10 (SNO on AWS), I get an error creating an instance of IBM User Data Services.
    I tried with the latest version of UDS v2.0.10 and the previous version v2.0.9, but neither worked.
    Has anyone faced similar error?
    If you know how to deal with it, please let me know.

    Hi Yuji,
    the development team is addressing the issue. In the meantime, issue this patching command to make the installation continue:

    oc patch PostgresCluster -n ibm-common-services instrumentationdb --type='merge' -p='{"spec": {"backups": {"pgbackrest": {"image": "registry.connect.redhat.com/crunchydata/crunchy-pgbackrest@sha256:efe775d3208befb2b7f026ef5fee3b03b306a9ba773709ec5c4c3391880ee60b"}}, "image": "registry.connect.redhat.com/crunchydata/crunchy-postgres@sha256:6b570ee2922281eedc5c267c50ad30a895fbb4e8a132c3e2c3a38e29fe3d6f6a"}}'

    At what point in the installation should the patch be applied? While it is FAILED - RETRYING? Should I wait until its the only task running?

    Hi Andrew,
     
    In my case, I applied the patch after mas-install pipeline failed.
    Then I restarted the pipeline and it was fine.

    Thanks. I ended up keeping an eye on the Crunchy Postgres install and patched as soon as that was done and was successful.

    What is your OCP release? Are you sure you are not running on 4.13?

    You should not use OpenShift 4.13. It is not supported. You should use OCP 4.12

    Hi Amina,

    OCP 4.14 is still to be supported. The current supported version by MAS 8.11 is OCP 4.12 as you can from here: https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/softwareReqsForProduct.html
    Moreover, you should stop deploying UDS. Pls note this early announcement: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/asset-facilities/blogs/kim-woodbury1/2024/03/07/attention-valued-customers-its-time-to-upgrade-fro
    In any case, in the future, a little more info is needed to be able to help you to resolve any errors.
