Attention Valued Customers: It's Time to Upgrade from UDS to DRO!

Dear Maximo Customers,

We hope this message finds you well. As a company committed to providing you with the best software solutions, we're excited to announce the release of our new software component, IBM Data Reporter Operator (DRO). DRO will replace existing component IBM Unified Data Services (UDS) from your Maximo environments. With a smaller technical footprint and enhanced performance, DRO represents a significant leap forward in our offerings.

Why the Upgrade?

We understand that change can sometimes be daunting, especially when it involves transitioning from a familiar product like UDS. However, we assure you that the move to DRO is not only necessary but also highly beneficial. Here's why:

Maintain License Compliance: UDS collects Maximo Application Suite (MAS) subscription usage and sends it to IBM to assist with license compliance. UDS will be sunset in June 2024. DRO is the long-term replacement product built, maintained, and supported by IBM.

Smaller Footprint: DRO is built on a more robust technology and has a smaller footprint. You may likely see reduced operational costs.

Better Performance: Say goodbye to slowdowns and glitches that may have been caused by UDS. DRO is optimized for speed and efficiency and can scale based on the workloads to be processed. Experience better overall performance and improved user experience with DRO.

Action Required: Uninstall UDS, Install DRO

To take full advantage of these benefits, we kindly request that you uninstall UDS from your Maximo environments and replace it with DRO. While we understand that this may require some effort on your part, we assure you that the transition will be well worth it.

DRO is released in the February 2024 fix packs (MAS 8.11.7 and 8.10.10), and we encourage you to migrate to DRO by the end of May 2024. Detailed instructions are available at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7129971.

·        Customers managing MAS installations through the MAS CLI tool (recommended) will automatically be updated to DRO as part of the February 2024 catalog update

·        Customers managing MAS installations through the MAS ansible playbooks need to deploy and switch to DRO

·        Customers can also deploy and configure DRO manually

·        No action required for MAS Dedicated and MAS SaaS customers. IBM will automatically migrate these environments to use DRO

DRO installation and configuration via MAS CLI is fully automated and requires no additional steps. MAS CLI also supports a fully automated migration from UDS to DRO. IBM Documentation (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7129971) provides detailed instructional information alongside the release of DRO to guide you through the installation process and help make the transition as smooth as possible.

We're Here to Help

The sunset of UDS is expected to have no impact to MAS and functionalities within its various Applications. However, without migrating to DRO, MAS will be unable to collect and send license usage data to IBM. You can still maintain license compliance by manually sending license usage report to IBM. IBM recommends you migrate to DRO at the earliest.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the transition from UDS to DRO, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated support team. We're here to assist you every step of the way and ensure a seamless transition for your business.

Thank you for your continued support and loyalty. We're excited to embark on this journey with you and look forward to delivering an even better software experience with DRO.

Best Regards,
