Google Cloud Platform Services Mapping

♦ Applies to: Apptio Cost Transparency and Apptio Cloud Cost Management on TBM Studio v12.3.3 and later

  • Cloudability CDI Connector - The Cloudability CDI connector performs the cloud service to TBM Taxonomy mapping as part of the workflow.  As such, the local file is not required for the mapping as designed in the original GCP Connector.  Beginning in April 2024, the Google Cloud Mapping v3 file will be uploaded to this site in case users want to verify the mappings used in the CDI/CCM mapping process.

04/22/2024 na Google cloud mappings to TBM Taxonomy v3 as of April 22, 2024. This is the source mapping file for the Cloudablity CDI/CCM process.
08/31/23 v1.9 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of Aug 31, 2023.
06/21/22 v1.8 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of Jun 20, 2022.
01/31/22 v1.7 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of end of Jan 2022.
03/10/21 v1.6 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of end of Feb 2021.
02/10/21 v1.5 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of end of Jan 2021.
12/09/20 v1.4 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of end of Nov 2020.
10/12/20 v1.3 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer reported gaps as of end of Sep 2020.
9/1/20 v1.2 Includes new entries for ATUM v1 and v2 and customer report gaps as of Aug 2020.
7/10/18 v1.0 New mapping file update for ATUM v1 and v2 mappings for Google Cloud Platform services
10/4/18 v1.1 Modified App Engine Search and Bitnami Elasticsearch to map to Service Name = Search

 

Mapping updates

Cloud providers update their service offerings frequently. As a result, Apptio provides monthly updates of the mapping files.

I cleaned up the v1.8 file to address the structural issues by taking the following actions on the [serviceName] field containing extraneous commas:
  1. Removed the comma before "Inc." for "Palo Alto Networks, Inc."
  2. Surrounded all other field values containing extra commas with quotes.
Unfortunately, there are 5 SKUs missing TBM Solution/Service mappings. They are the following:
5F36-1D51-225D
0A9B-8220-C3EE
9EED-C98C-554F
B027-C1FA-EF78
EAB6-11A5-31F3

I expect I could manually add the mappings myself upon closer inspection, but I'll leave it to Apptio to do it. ;-)

I also submitted a case 321200 to Apptio Support regarding the extra commas and disruption to the data schema's integrity and missing Solution/Service mappings for the 5 SKUs.​

@Daniel Schönewolf  We are developing a new cloud mapping solution that will support v4 in the future.  Currently, the existing process is limited to v1 and v2.​

@Julie Batty  Please include the id, ServiceName and Service Description for the GCP gaps and send to cloudmapping@apptio.com.

Hi,

@Ed Hayman as @Liam Trant mentioned the file has major errors concerning the structure. Additionally it contains only ATUM v1 and v2. 
Is there a current (ATUM v3 or v4) version without the structural issues available? Otherwise we won't be able to use it for Tower reporting.

@Ed Hayman  I think there is some funky parsing that is occurring during the preparation of the Service Mapping file. I noticed some bizarre entries in some line items for the Resource Family and it looks like for some skus, the serviceName is being split across other unrelated headers. It was like this in the v1.5 and it looks like it is still like this in the most recent v1.6 as seen in my screen shot example (sku 6A88-ECC2-671A)

@Apptio UserAssistance There isn't an update entry in the changelog that pertains to the notification I received today. The file size of the zip appears to be the same now as it was on 10/04/18. Was the attached .zip actually updated?

Hello

I've asked the community for direction on an updated file to the above here: Google Cloud Platform Services Mapping Table - recent updates? 

Will also ask here - is there an updated GCP Services Mapping table? As we are experiencing a high percentage of fallout from Cloud Service Providers to ITRT due to there being no Tower and Sub Tower mapping for a large number of SKUs in our GCP invoice.
