As we explore more ways of embedding TBM and Apptio use in our organisation, we are exploring some of the key consumption driven areas and how we can report on these - Networks, End User Services & Licences.

These are long standing technology services unlike SaaS, IaaS and other newer technologies.  So I was surprised there are no standard out of the box reports to help measure these. There are objects in the model for Networks and End User Devices but no ootb reports.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has developed some useful reports and use cases in their organisation and would be happy to share some examples.

Right now, Apptio had added a few extra components within a release to help IT organizations be able to cost out various objects within the Infrastructure Layer vs. having those bypass that layer and ultimately end up at the Application \ Services layer.  Since after a review of what most customers were doing were adding these objects manually during their deployments.  So with that they decided to add these components to the application.  I am sure on the road map there is a plan to eventually add reporting capabilities, but at this time there are not. 

I have had a few customers in which I develop End User Reports for them (I have called them out below) as maybe that they would be able to share samples of what was created for them.

Thanks Ryan, we do have the new components in our model for the reasons you mention. We're now interested in reporting on them for the benefit of our  IT operational teams.

We all have similar needs in this area. I have it in the back of my queue. . .

As a suggestion, it would be helpful to start the discussion collecting the reports the network team is using right now to see what components would be applicable to a TBM dashboard.
