    Hi,

The current architecture of NOI was implemented according to the traditional concept of three layers: Collection, Aggregation and Display layers.

We are evaluating the possibility of eliminating the DISPLAY layer for the purposes of simplifying the architecture, improving performance, and preparing for the migration to Watson AIOps.

We know that there have been improvements in the WebGUI and OMNIbus that make it possible not to consider the DISPLAY layer.

However, we are not finding technical documentation to better understand and justify this proposed architecture change.

Please, does anyone have a technical reference or an example of architecture implemented without considering the DISPLAY layer?

The Best Practices document does not explain the considerations that must be made to not consider the DISPLAY layer or how to do it.

Thank you in advance for all your attention.

    Antonio,

I was the former admin of Netcool Omnibus for a large US-based insurance company.

We moved to a two-layer architecture in 2014 in order to simply management, lower LPAR/VM footprint, and reduce licensing costs.

The collection layer also had our probes and unigate.

The aggregation layer had connections to the thick Netcool AEL client and Web GUI.

It was highly stable.  I would say industrial strength!  tens of thousands of events per hour, no problem.

Ping me on Slack, if you want to talk.
