Broadening Our Reach, Meeting Your Needs

We are thrilled to announce that Cloud Pak for AIOps POC Linux Version will be available end of June 2024 (CP4AIOps V 4.6) and First Phase of Production in end of 3Q 2024 as Linux-based Install option.

Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.6 expands on the strong foundation of our AIOps platform by adding a groundbreaking Linux-based deployment option alongside the current OpenShift offering. This strategic direction on this new release reinforces IBM’s commitment to our client’s needs, providing a high level of flexibility and choice, allowing more organizations to take advantage of advanced analytics and easily integrate our industry-leading AIOps platform into their existing environments.

This new product iteration is not just about providing a new deployment option - it’s about unlocking the full potential of AIOps across the IT infrastructure, empowering our clients with flexibility while increasing our presence in the market.

What does this mean to you?

Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.6 delivers the innovation and value of Hybrid Cloud and AI and aspires to be the catalyst that makes Operations teams work Incidents with imperfect data across heterogeneous environments more effectively & efficiently.  It enables clients to achieve operational objectives for managed services and reduce operational costs in heterogeneous, multi tool (event management led) environment. It makes more data-informed decisions, focusing on the problems that impact their businesses, and enables them to automate, secure, and modernize their business and IT Operations.

Cloud Pak for AIOps was meant to be the successor to Netcool Operations Insights. Over the course of the last 4 years, we have revolutionized many of the features within the Netcool ecosystem with work from IBM Research into a single product codebase. This Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.x solution finally enables an approach for customers to migrate from Netcool to Cloud Pak for AIOps. Our customers (see “what customers have said” for the list) continue to tell us they prefer IBM’s AIOps mission, vision, and capabilities of CP4AIOps – though customers are either choosing a different solution or keeping with their existing incumbent deployment of Netcool Operations Insight as-is.

Several of Netcool clients have traded up to Cloud Pak Cloud Pak entitlement. Based on sales feedback and customer interviews, for a large portion of the greenfield market, the major hurdle to Cloud Pak for AIOps adoption is that to deploy it they must also use OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).  This hurdle is based on the high total ownership cost involved in OCP, as well as the complexity of installation and management of the platform itself. In customer interviews, we find the container platform decision is often established as an overall corporate strategy; any alternative to adhering to the corporate strategy is either forbidden or requires significant scrutiny through an exception process

The IT Operations Management (ITOM) market was $17.4B in 2022 with a total market CAGR of 10.3% through 2027. This growth is largely driven by cloud deployed ITOM tools which are growing at 16.7% compared to the on-prem deployed tools which are growing at .9%. This market will be $28.4B by 2027 [2].

  • As Gary Chen, research director of software define compute for IDC noted in 2023, “Not everything is going to be containerized and refactored into microservices. Vendors need to have solutions for a transition period where VM, containers, monoliths, and microservices all co-exist, even within a single application.” As such, we are observing varying levels of adoption of deployment technologies for clients. Only 60% of clients have adopted Kubernetes as of 2022 [4], and therefore, even if the solution is a containerized one not tied to OpenShift the addressable ITOM Market is $10.4B (17.4B ITOM Market * .60 K8s adoption)

  • Diving deeper, according to Container Infrastructure Software (CIS) market data [1], 24% of clients already use RedHat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) as a container infrastructure platform. If we consider this to be the current market share that will adopt Cloud Pak for AIOps via OCP, and taking both market assessments into account, the current Cloud Pak for AIOps total addressable market maximum is $2.6B.
