When setting up your on Cloud environment, you install agents on the local systems that you want to monitor. Agents communicate with the IBM Performance Management on Cloud server. If your browser or agents cannot connect to the cloud server, you might need to configure your agents to communicate through a forward proxy.

To test your agent connectivity, ensure that your firewall rules allow return traffic from specific IP addresses and port 443. IP addresses are specific to each data center. For more information, see Cloud data center IP addresses in the APM dW wiki.

The following example uses IP addresses for the Dallas data center:

To test your agent connectivity in North America, point your browser to each of the following Dallas SoftLayer data center IP addresses by using HTTPS:

-192.155.249.170 for downloading agent packages. To test connectivity, point your browser to 184.172.113.153. If you have connectivity, you are prompted to validate the certificate. When you accept the certificate, a forbidden error is displayed.
-184.172.113.153 for agent communication. If you have connectivity, you are prompted to validate the certificate. When you accept the certificate, a forbidden error is displayed.
-192.155.249.169 for Performance Management console communication. If you have connectivity, the IBM® HTTP Server welcome page is displayed.

You can also test your agent connectivity by running the openssl command. For more information, see Configuring agents to communicate through a forward proxy in the Performance Management on Cloud Knowledge Center.
