Mon August 22, 2016 01:27 PM

Instance Management (Reports, Time Settings, etc)

Application: There are many different factors that can cause an instance to calculate longer than expected. The items mentioned below are tips related to reducing calculation time for an instance and will be referenced throughout this help file. If necessary, you can request a Platform Health check from Support which has more information regarding instance health.

Long Running Reports:
- Notify Support and ask for a pre-calc analyzer for the given instance
- Use results from tool to identify longest running components
- Determine if reports are necessary or obsolete
o Removing unused reports can reduce calculation time

Number of time periods open:

- Ensure that the time periods open are needed within Apptio
- Having additional time periods open can cause longer calculations
- Reference This doc on how to “Open & Close Time Periods.”

Jenny,

OOTB reports that cannot be deleted should have the pre-load box "unchecked" if these reports are not in use. I hope that answers your question.

Best,

Spencer

What about unused OOTB reports - typically (with legacy) we were unable to delete those permanently - they popped back up - would un-checking pre-load work in those cases for those that are unused?  And thank you for this post - very informative/useful!
