    Hi

    Help!

How can we export images embedded in the Object Text into Excel? Do we need to rely to Excel?

I am using  DOORS version:     9.7.2.8

    Thanks

    Pauline

    Hi,

Unfortunately DOORS Excel export does not Koffer that function. You need to write custom dxl to export Ole and Pictures to excel using Ole automation.

We have done that in the past for a couple of customers.
What is your use case? There are other solutions that might fit to your use case better then Excel anyway.

    Regards,

    Nikolai

I am trying to export a Specification into Word, as it is the best format. The images and OLE get exported too. Unfortunately, the Column name gets imported. I have 2 columns: the Requirement ID, and the Requirement Text that also includes the Paragraph Heading and Numbers.  I have the "Requirement ID" words that gets displayed at the front the numbers. Some times I get additional line breaks. This is a nightmare to tidy up in Word, and a 'find and replace' doesn't do a good job.

    Hi Pau,

you could have a look at our tools requisis_DoX for Word or requisis_MoRE for HTML exports or IBMs RPE. The RPE is quite complicated, so you need to spend some time to get good results. The tools might help you with your tasks. These are commercial tools, but for that reason supported. If you want to test requisis_DoX or requisis_MoRE just send an email to product-support@requisis.com

    Regards,

    Nikolai

    Pau,

Spreadsheets are not the proper place to store images. If you were using Doors Next instead of DOORS classic, you would have  several options available. These may still work for you.

    1. Export the artifacts into Excel. Export the same artifacts into a Word or PDF document. Copy and paste the images into the Excel file.
    2. Export the artifacts into Excel. Use either the Snipping Tool or Snip and Sketch to copy and save the images. Open the Excel file and import the images into the correct cells.
    3. Use RPE to create a report that exports the artifacts.

    Hi Pau,

Maybe this website will be useful for you. I used this script a few years ago, it is an improved DXL to export to Excel, it has the option to export the images to Excel and more options.

    https://galactic-solutions.com/downloads/GalacticDownloadExcel.htm

I hope you find it useful.

    Regards!

Thank you, I tried. I am not able to  fix an existing script, as I am not a DXL expert....

I do get the following error:

-R-E- DXL: <Line:1853> null OleAutoObj parameter was passed into argument position 1
