Can anyone advise on below :
Question no 1:
We have a 9848 AG8 box which comes with 3yrs 24x7 HWMA as Product default Warranty Support. Suppose we availed the discounted prices bundled with additional 2yrs 24x7 HWMA in this discounted offer Through epricer (SBO).as a pre paid maintenance /TSS subscription. So the product has now 60months 24x7 HW maintenance.
if this box has passed 1 year and then we add FCMs in it, then what warranty the additional FCMs will carry.?.... Will they be aligned for the remaining 4yrs HWMA with base for no additional maintenance /uplift Charges
there will be additional 4 yrs uplift charges required for these added FCMs (as MES Upgrade)?
There will be 2 yrs uplift charges for these FCMs? (i.e. charges after the 3 years Product Warranty )
Question no 2:
What is the default warranty & service level on FlashCore modules . is it 3 years 9x5 , is it 3 years 24x7 or 90days 9x5.?
Did Anyone find any answer as even IBM Techline Team & Offering Team has not any clear statement on it. So I am worried on what should I tell my customer.
When a new part is installed as a result of an MES installation, there are two possible warranty scenarios:
1. The part is an "additional part" (as that term is defined in Purchase Considerations, above) to the machine and does not replace any previously installed part. In this case, the additional part is sold with the same warranty announced for the machine (that is, the same terms, including warranty period and type of warranty service). The new part's warranty period begins on its Date of Installation. Two examples follow:
2. The part is a "replacement part" (as that term is defined in Purchase Considerations, above) and replaces a previously installed (that is, removed) part. In this case, the replacement part assumes the "warranty status" (that is, the amount of remaining warranty, if any) of the part it replaces, unless that is contrary to local law. If no warranty remains, the replacement part assumes the "service status" of the machine (that is, the machine is covered under IBM post-warranty maintenance service contract, or it is not covered under such a contract), commencing on the part's Date of Installation. Two examples follow:
Hope this helps and in answer to your two questions1) Additonal added FCM's will have 3 years warranty from the point of additon to the machine. 2) The default warrnty period of the FCM's depends on the machine type they were originally sold with.
