  • 1.  V3700 showing internal error

    Posted Tue November 14, 2023 10:42 AM

    Hi,
I have a V3700, firmware v7.5.0.14, cannot upgrade cause of the 4GB limit,

which is constantly in a red health status. If you move the mouse over the status it shows "internal error"

but there is no error or warning in the events.

    Any idea what to do?

    Thanks in advance

    Dear Apostolos

I think, you should start thinking of a new storage system, like a FS5015. The 7.5 Firmware was withdrawn 6 years ago, so your storage will be  at least 6 years old with rotating disks. Your Firmware is End of Service since Dec 2018, so the last 5 years, you will not get support from IBM. I removed my V3700er machines last year from my lab environment.

Have a look at the messages. There you will find the errors sorted by time and a better description finding the root cause.

Did you do a reboot of your controllers?

    kind regards

    Martin

    Hello Martin,

we already hove some FS5035 systems but not all customers can afford a tech refresh.
My problem is that there are no messages in the events, not under "recomended" nor under "all"
just an constant internal error down right on the health status.

    Both controllers have been rebooted.
    Kind regards, Apostolos

    Hola Apostolos!

Would you share a screenshot from your CLI event log, the GUI event and the internal error? I don't think we have an equipment that old but I can take a look and compare

Have you considered an upgrade to 8GB to make it upgradable to 7.8.x.y? It seems worth it

Thanks for the screenshot @Apostolos Gkavanozis,

I found a V7K with 7.8, so the GUI is very similar.

In the screenshot I see "internal Storage" instead the initially mentioned "Internal Error". My V7K shows the same legend due to offline drives.

    Internal Storage Status

Don't you see the same issues in your system?

    Hello Luis,

I do find similar problems like having an old offline drive which has been long replaced but it is still shown under internal storage.

    In your Event Log View,
change the "Show All" at the top..

and Change it by clicking on it to be "Recommended Actions"

This will be much Clearer in showing you what the issue is,
You can also Click the "Run Fix" button above the list

To get details and instructions on how to resolve the problem.

As V3700 is very end of Service, you may have problems finding replacement parts and service - Good luck.

    Hello Glen,

unfortunately in the events it does not show the "internal error" message, not under "Recommended Actions" not even under "All"
It show onle a sporadic "Array response too high"
