    Hi all,

I now have 2 FS5300 systems that are connected to Storage Insights Pro via Call Home Cloud services. Now without a Data Collector. Entire setup and configuration goes very smoothly. I then have 3 other FS5300 systems that still need to be configured, but they need to go to a different Storage Insights instance (another department). How can I arrange this?

    Thanks,

    Hi T.

first try to use Departments on Storage Insights Pro, but if the another instance is required create a new instance with different IBM ID and use it for the others.

I'm fairly certain that segregating by Departments does not accomplish the necessary separation.  This is a matter of Storage Insights licensing.  If you have a storage system monitored in any way by a Storage Insights Pro instance, you must own the appropriate capacity (or device/Enterprise Care Premium) licenses for said system.  So licensed systems must be in an SI Pro instance, and non-licensed systems must be in an SI Free instance.

Your alternative of creating a new "SI Free" instance with a different IBMid does accomplish this licensing separation.

However, if you can get hold of the right support folks in IBM (best to ask your IBM Technical Advisor and/or Sales Technical Specialist to assist), it is possible to have multiple Storage Insights instances registered to one single IBMid.  And you will just end up with one URL (https://insights.ibm.com/gui/uniqueID#1) for the SI Pro instance and a different URL (https://insights.ibm.com/gui/uniqueID#2) for the SI Free instance.

For the FlashSystem family I prefer to use Storage Insights for Spectrum Control with SC select edition license. And I think it also makes it easier for SI Pro to separate due to it's box license. However, I have never come across a customer who needed a different instance. You can request product support from the "manage" section of myibm.ibm.com

    All 5 systems are licensed.

2 are managed by Storage team A and 3 by storage team B. Team A and B are two legally separate departments.
Thanks for the advice, I'll contact Support and go from there.

Apologies, I misunderstood and thought that the three other FS5300 systems did not have licensing for SI Pro.

Yes, if you own SI Pro licensing for all of the systems, I believe Nezih's initial response that you can use SI Pro's "Departments" should suit your requirements fine!  And I believe that you can use SI 'multi-tenancy' features to allow appropriate access to the different systems, in the different departments, to authorized users only.
