  • 1.  How to Shutting down an HyperSwap site

    Posted Mon June 17, 2024 05:08 AM

    Hello,

I have two FS5200 configured as HyperSwap cluster. I need to stop one site to move the system to an other location.

    All requirements have been checked:

    • Host connectivity at the other site.
    • Up-to-date copy of each HyperSwap volume
    • Verify that the quorum disk or the IP quorum application at site 3 is online

In my situation, the site to shutdown contains the configuration node.

Looking at the procedure i need to:

    1. Powering the first node, preferably the one that do not contains the configuration to prevent multiple failover.
    2. Powering the second node (HyperSwap volumes will be shown as dependent, can be safely ignored !)
    3. Powering the enclosure (HyperSwap volumes will be shown as dependent, can be safely ignored !)

Can you confirm the procedure, specially warning about volumes access loss ?

Do i need to through all the nodes shutdown one by one, or can i just shutdown the enclosure ?

    Hi Stephane,

you can shutdown your nodes via service screen. go to your cluster ip with https://x.x.x.x/service and login to your cluster with superuser. choose your first node and > enter service state and same for 2nd. after both nodes on service state you can now choose power off on the same screen

I would recommend just turning off the entire enclosure (using the power off enclosure command) rather than doing node at a time as that will provoke an unnecessary quorum race.

Thanks Evelyn, I just powered off the enclosure and it worked like a charm.
