I'm creating a child pool with safeguard, but when it's done creating an error message,

I bought an IBM Spectrum control license,  i can't create a child pool with safeguard to install ibm copy services manager

I don't understand why you mention Spectrum Control in this context, it has nothing to do with creating a child pool.

In addition to that, the requirement of needing a child pool for Safeguarded Copy that was present at the 8.4.2 is not longer there. Since at least 8.6 you should use the Volume Group Snapshots with include the Safeguarded Copy function without requiring child pools.

I have an SSD pool but that pool is almost 80% used so I didn't try with that pool, but I just need to create on the HDD pool

I'm opening a case with IBM

Hi,

As Marcus pointed there is no need childpool for SGC.

I am not sure where are you now but here is what I had tried so far:

Create volume group

Create Snapshot policy (set retention time)

And when you assign the policy to the vg, then you can select it as Safeguarded.

I have an SSD pool but that pool is almost 80% used so I didn't try with that pool, but I just need to create on the HDD pool
