Well, it's summertime, and I think we all know what that means. The beach? Time off with family? Lots of airport congestion? Nah. Easily and reliably deploying Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform at enterprise production scale, of course! OK, perhaps a bit much to ponder as you lounge poolside sipping that tropical drink with the little umbrella protruding from it. But this is definitely a hot topic - so summer is a great time to dive in!
 
As you may have heard, the big inaugural IBM TechXchange Conference is fast approaching, and there are going to be a BUNCH of great sessions to check out. Educational/best practices discussions, hands-on labs, and of course best of all, experiential feedback and lessons learned from our most valuable teammates - our customers. TechXchange is going to be a great opportunity to immerse yourself in all of IBM at once, all in one convenient (and fun!) location. Every brand will be represented, and you'll have lots of opportunities to interact directly with our thought leaders, business leaders, ecosystem partners, and your fellow industry cohorts.
 
OK, so enough with the sales pitch for TechXchange... :) Let's talk about the subject at hand - OpenShift. One of the many sessions available for your viewing pleasure is entitled "Deploy OpenShift Faster with IBM Storage Fusion" (I know... sexy name, right??), and it will be presented by yours truly, as well as a very special guest (I mean, technically I'm probably the guest more than he is!) - Ryan Goodson of Red Hat. Ryan is a Principal Architect for Red Hat's global Financial Services consulting team. He led the engagement responsible for the largest OpenShift deployment worldwide (nearly a million cores!) and is currently developing the strategies to help other customers successfully adopt OpenShift as the foundation for their modernization journey.
 
So, needless to say, I am very psyched to be sharing the stage with Ryan to talk about some real world, pragmatic best practices for accelerating your journey to high performance, highly reliable production OpenShift cluster deployments - without breaking the bank, or sleeping in the data center. In this session, we're going to be talking about application modernization, but also - and just as importantly - about the infrastructure and workflow modernization that can and should go hand-in-hand with it. Ryan has seen it all, and over his years of working with huge, strategic global clients, he's developed an incredibly broad portfolio of effective and repeatable discovery and design methods, pitfalls to avoid, and recommendations to optimize your deployment experience at every step of the journey. This session will emphasize the importance of realizing value as quickly as possible quickly in OpenShift in order to get the most out of your investment, and what tools are available to help you get there.
 
In addition, you can expect to learn:

• How to get the most out of your efforts and investment in OpenShift
• What data related functions are often overlooked when implementing OpenShift and Kubernetes
• Why working on Saturdays is terrible! (okay maybe not this, but that's obvious, right?)
