On a IBM MDM how do the cell phones connected get OS updates

  • 1.  On a IBM MDM how do the cell phones connected get OS updates

    I have a customer using a IBM MDM server for cell phones that are unlocked, no carrier. How do these phones get OS updates? If there is a new android version released that i thought the carrier usually pushes out how do theses get that?

    Ok, so i just verified with Samsung that the OS upgrades come from the carrier. If the MDM server doesn't have a carrier how do they get the new android OS?

    question more specifically is about IBM MDM MaaS360 and how it gets android OS upgrades when no carrier is present
