 Upgrading zERT network analyzer schema ahead of z/OS 3.1 upgrade

Hello everyone,
 
We are in the process of upgrading our system from z/OS version 2.5 to z/OS version 3.1. As part of the upgrade workflow (specifically Step 5.13.1) we are required to upgrade the network analyzer's database schema from version to 3.1 (we have version 1.2.1).
 
Before proceeding, we’d like to confirm:
Is it possible to upgrade the schema to version 3.1 while still running on z/OS 2.5, or does this upgrade strictly require us to be on z/OS 3.1?
 
Any insights or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
