IBM zERT Network Analyzer enhancements with z/OS 3.1!

z/OS Encryption Readiness Technology (zERT) is a security feature provided by IBM z/OS that helps organizations assess and manage the cryptographic protection of their network traffic. Serving as a comprehensive suite of tools and capabilities, zERT empowers organizations to assess, enhance, and optimize their network encryption coverage on IBM z/OS platforms. This technology acts as a proactive shield against potential security vulnerabilities, ensuring that enterprises can navigate the evolving landscape of cybersecurity with confidence.

In conjunction with the release of z/OS 3.1, IBM has introduced a series of functional enhancements to IBM zERT Network Analyzer, z/OSMF UI provided with zERT.

  • Enhanced upgrade support:

To ease upgrade process and to optimize the user experience, z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) with the IBM zERT Network Analyzer for z/OS 3.1 introduces enhancements for users upgrading from a previous release to z/OS 3.1, reducing manual migration efforts.

    • The sample database schema tooling now includes additional templates to upgrade an existing database from a previous release to the 3.1 schema.
    • The Application Settings panel is updated to add new function to import application settings from a previous release or reset to default values.
    • The Database Settings panel is updated to add new function to import database connection settings from a previous release.

  • Passphrase and password management support:

With z/OS 3.1, IBM zERT Network Analyzer supports the use of passphrases up to 100 characters to connect to the Db2 for z/OS database. IBM zERT Network Analyzer includes additional enhancements in the Database Settings panel to clear existing database credentials to allow for easier switching between different database user IDs.

  • Updated user interface:
