We will be receiving employee data from a human resources system into ApptioOne.  The HR system is the system of record so we don't want the employee data to be edited in A1.  There will be additional data related to each employee that we will be updating and that data never goes back to the source system.  In short, we want to protect the source data from being edited in A1 even though it will be available to the same people who will edit the additional fields.

For example, the HR system will send the employee name and title to A1.  In A1, we will see the name and title data and on the same screen we will add data such as a nickname.  We want users to have view only for the name and title, and yet be able to edit the nickname.

How do others protect the source data from being edited in A1?
