If a new FS5045 is shipped at 9.1.0, is it possible to re-install with 8.7.0 to ensure Global Mirror with existing hardware can be used?

Hi All,

I have an SME customer looking to invest in an FS5045. They currently have a V5030e which is as up to date as possible 8.5.0.

I see a support statement that IBM will support Remote Copy between 8.4 and 8.7

The customer would like to retain use of the V5030e as a DR system and then budget for a further FS5045 at a later date.

If the first FS5045 arrives with 8.7.1 or above CD release (or 9.1.0), at installation is it possible to replace the shipped version with 8.7.0.x to allow Remote Copy back to the V5030e?

Assume that there will be no features in use that are only 8.7.1 or above.

Is there a procedure for doing this.

Many thanks,

Ed

Hi Edward,

yes, you can connect to the Service IP of each nodecanister using their default IPs and do a "Software Reinstall" upfront the configuration of the cluster.

Kind regards, Uwe
