IBM i Access for Windows uninstall problem

Hello everyone,
I am having problems uninstalling i Access for Windows 7.1.
I installed everything by mistake, although I only need the ODBC driver.
There were no errors during the installation. But the ODBC driver does not work properly.  So I downloaded the new driver and wanted to uninstall the old i Access.
However, the uninstallation is now always aborted without any instructions. On the second attempt to uninstall, I am now told that the registration of the cwbx.dll module cannot be canceled HRESULT -2147220992
All entries for the DLL are now also missing in the registry.

Is there a way to uninstall i Access 7.1 without the uninstall program?
I would be grateful for help.

Hi André,

Making assumptions here but you are probably on Windows 10 / 11 right?

The old 7.1 Access Client solutions ideally should not be touched anymore with a 10 foot pole because it has not been updated nor any warranty anymore implied for the usage of it as its out of support.

You can find the "Windows Application Package" inside this link :https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-access-client-solutions
That will be supported, and also work on your side for what you are after, perhaps install this package if you have not yet and see what happens?

As for the uninstallation, that probably is messed up now because of the way  Windows Defender handles out of date software. (see : https://community.spiceworks.com/t/cant-install-ibm-i-access-7-1/330396/6)

You "could" try this approach (with the disclaimer at *USE YOUR OWN RISK*) for utilities such as :
https://www.advanceduninstaller.com/IBM-i-Access-Client-Solutions---Application-Package-de548099564fca3673851769e8d9e5f8-application.htm
These utilities normally find strangling DLL's that links to the installed application and assists you in removing it.

Then your last approach could be, uninstall the new ODBC driver, the old package and anything related if you are allowed to for iAccess Windows 7.1, then REBOOT as that normally pulls things correct order for the installed applications, then try with the Windows Application Package.
