 FC Port grid utilization x external virtualization

Hello everyone,
 
I have a question regarding an environment where I use two ports (port 3 and port 4) in both node to communication with the Flashsystem Grid (FS7200 and FS7300), and I need to perform external virtualization to another storage system.
 
Can I use the same ports as the Flashsystem Grid for zoning the external virtualization?
 
Has anyone used this configuration before? Does anyone know if this could cause problems in my production storage?

While it is not the recommended configuration or best practice, but you can use it. If there is no PBHA or PB-R between these two boxes, FlashSystem Grid will not use those ports actively. But of course there are side effects. All shared ports have these. 

For example, if you move some workloads from the FlashSystem 7200 to the FlashSystem 7300 (or vice versa) and your hosts also use the same ports to access externally virtualized storage, this may result in latency for those hosts. And, of course, migration between FlashSystems will also be slower.

Thank you for your reply. I will be using 4 ports, 2 per controller for both workloads (Port3 and port4 are two different zones for each workload), and as you said, the migration will be used at certain times, not all the time.
 
The workloads that will use external virtualization are not critical environments.
 
Therefore, there will be no impact on my production environment on the FS7200, as I am using ports 1 and 2 for my production hosts. The only problem with this configuration will be a slower migration or latency on my hosts using the external mdisks, correct?
