Hi,
Has anybody else had an issue with using the Cost YTD (calculated metric) in a KPI? I have this on a report, which also has global filters. If no filter is selected then the Cost YTD displays correct number. However, when I use a global filter, the KPI just shows 0....both KPI and Global Filter are referencing same model object.

Any ideas or tips and tricks? Things to explore in the model?

Thanks,
Devon

Hi @Sangeetha AR  and @Devon Bilsing

This issue sounds like it could be something that we call Various over Time.  In this case you most likely need to add the filter column to your identifier rather than having your metric setting changed to "can sum".   Here is a link to a video that explains the concept of Various over Time and how to resolve it.

Kind regards,

Debbie

For the global slicers and the KPI are they built from the same modeled metric?

Hey @Devon Bilsing,
Were you able to resolve this issue?  I see that @Renee Daignault had a follow up question but I'm wondering if I can mark this complete. If you did find a resolution, perhaps you could share it here?

Hey All - yes, they use the same model metric. And, the answer is that there is a box called "can sum" which you need to check upon creation of the calculated metric. Naturally, Cost YTD is an OOTB metric so I had to contact my Apptio Technical Support person to update the "can sum" box.

I too have same issue. can you please share if anyone has resolved the issue? I am not able to find "can sum" checkbox as @Devon Bilsing suggested in his answer.

Hi Debbie, thanks for your reply. The video helps to resolve {various} in column values and we already follow it. But my issue is on seeing Cost YTD metric showing 0 in KPI  whereas it actually has value.  Per @Devon Bilsing  suggestion - "can sum" resolve that issue and will it be able to enabled only by APPTIO support team only?
