 Compare Plans with different Cost Center/Department Reference Data

Hello,

We have changes to our Cost Center Reference Data annually resulting in additions, changes and deletions.  All works fine except when comparing Plans where a Cost Center was deleted.  In this scenario when comparing the new plan with the old plan, the dollar amount is visible but the deleted Cost Center, Code or Account number is blank as shown in the attached document and below:


I realize if we kept the old cost centers all would work perfectly but the users want us to remove the old cost centers to reduce the number to select from the dropdown.  Has anyone run into this same issue and if so did you come up with a solution you would like to share?

A lot of Organizations go through what you are facing and each approach a different approach to address this depending on their stakeholders. You have clearly expressed that your stakeholders do not want to see the deleted cost centres. From my previous experience as a TBM Director earlier, I can suggest the following:
  • Seek clarity from the Finance team how would they do the comparison themselves and reflect that here.
  • Alternatively, you could probably group at the Cost Object level for comparison, eg. Conference Services FY21 Vs FY22 as long as the Cost Objects are similar
