Hi There,

We have an issue with Actuals in one of our account group and need to add adjustment lines for reconciliation purposes.
Is there a way to do that? Can Actuals be adjusted in a Forecast type IT Plan by any way?

Thanks

@Debbie Hagen

Hello @Jon Sober,

An adjustment table looks like something we could implement to adjust Actuals and keep a record of it.  Thanks much for your suggestion.

Hello @Debbie Hagen,

We are working on ITFMF. Agree we should not make changes to our actuals but we need to align with other accounting systems used in our organization. Also, Actuals are used to run rate and calculate some forecasting values and that run rate would not be correct if we do not amend actuals.

Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,
Rohit

Hi @Rohit Manral

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're after, but within a Cost Transparency model I sometimes create an adjustment table (using the same column headings) and Append it to the original table so that I can fix items that are incorrect (for various reasons). If you're doing this with Cost Source, it's worth thinking about making your adjustments into matching credits/debits so that the total is unaffected, but there are other ways to do it too.

Be careful though ... it's easy to make too many adjustment tables and lose control!

Hi @Rohit Manral,
If I understood your question correctly, it sounds like you're trying to go back and change the numbers in your "actuals" data.  If I got that right, I would say that typically we wouldn't recommend adjusting your Actuals.  That's why we have Plan, Actuals and Forecast.  Plan is the budget where you decide in advance how much you want to spend, actuals is what you actually did spend, and forecast is where you make adjustments to your plan based on how your actuals are looking or changes in the business environment.  Which product are you working with?  CT?  ITFMF?

I understand, that in some cases, information comes in later and you have to go back and make adjustments after month end close.  In that case, perhaps the adjustment table Jon mentioned would work.  It might depend on how that changed data comes in. Do you get a total replacement pull or just some line items?

Cheers,

Deb
