    Hi,

    Anyone using RHEL9 on Power yet?

    I downloaded rhel-baseos-9.1-ppc64le-dvd.iso image from Redhat and
    added that into my VIOS optical library.

    When I try to boot my VM from the DVD, it always gets stuck to the same:

    On vtmenu:
    Elapsed time since release of system processors: 605090 mins 49 secs
    Calling ibm,client-architecture-support from grub...

    On HMC GUI I see LED code:

    BA060030
    Explanation
    Logical partitioning with shared processors is enabled and the operating system does not support it.
    Problem determination
    Install or boot a level of the operating system that supports shared processors.
    Disable logical partitioning with shared processors in the operating system.

    I think there error is faulty, there is no way that RHEL9 would run only on Dedicated processors...???
    HW I am using is Power9 (s914) ; Firmware: VL950_FW950.20 (87)


    Have already opened support cases to both IBM & Redhat; but not really getting any enlightening info from those yet. :(

    EDIT : Seems to be an issue with rhel-baseos-9.1-ppc64le-dvd.iso image ; Tested with rhel-baseos-9.0-ppc64le-dvd.iso image >> worked out of the box

    Hi

    I just hit the same issue. For me the solution was first to boot the partition with RHEL8.1 ISO up to the installer. Then I switched the ISO image to RHEL 9.1 (the current boot process crashed and shot down the partition), started the LPAR and it worked.

    Experienced as well.  My workaround was to temporarily make the LPAR use dedicated cores, do the installation, then switch back to shared processors.  That worked for me.

    Its a regression caused on 9.1 and 8.7 builds. There is an active alert referencing this issue.

    The problem, you were seeing is just another variant. Since both RH9.1 and 8.7 will reach end of service shortly,  both of these problems are  fixed in upcoming 9.2 and 8.8 GA
