PowerHA with DB2

    Hi fellows.

We are working in a test enviroment for a PowerHA cluster with 2 DB2 on AIX 7.2. We have one DB2 instance per VM. This looks like a mutual takeover config but the PowerHA smart assist looks like it's not detecting that so we are configuring like two separate RG with their own File Systems and Service IP. When testing failover looks like the DB2 cannot start cause a db2nodes.cfg file that does not have the hostname of the target VM but the source one.

Searching for a solution some people edit the db2nodes.cfg file and set the hostname.

    Any experience in similar configuration?

I think you should first perform manual testing to ensure that db2 can start on both nodes (one at a time), before allowing PowerHA to perform automatic testing of the cluster.

PowerHA is not an out-of-the-box solution, so it will work the way we tell it how to do things.

If it is not possible to do it manually, it cannot be done automatically either.

    Hi Thanks for your answer.

Yes we are testing that both DB2 start in both nodes and that's how we are working out this db2nodes.cfg configuration.
