My idea is simple.

Automatically allocate Capacity on Demand to a LPAR with a shell script.

I have solved adding a CoD code to a frame and activating the resource and adding it to a LPAR through the HMC.

The issue is the code is frame specific and I don't know which frame will need capacity tomorrow with HA and DR in use.

What I need is an API to generate the code used by the chcod command.

Getting codes from ESS works for testing but I don't want to get another code everyday.

Yes, Power Enterprise Pools 2.0 would have been way better than this but this is the hardware I have.

Unfortunately there is not an ESS API available that can be used to generate Elastic CoD codes.  If you'd like you can submit feedback to the ESS team to request that enhancement via the Feedback tile on the ESS home page.

Submitted enhancement request to ESS. 

I had emailed the contact for Elastic Capacity on Demand on the ESS Support page but they don't seem setup for enhancement requests.

Isn't this kind of what PowerVC's Dynamic Resource Optimizer does in a PEP1 (Classic) pool ?
