  • 1.  Deploying IBM ACS (Access Client Solutions) on Microsoft Cloud PC which is running Windows 365

    Hi,

    Is there a way to deploy IBM ACS (Access Client Solutions) on Microsoft Cloud PC which is running Windows 365. We are looking for appx bundle or application package to create app in Intune portal for mass deployment. Our cloud PC are Windows 365.
    The normal exe file setup which we have for both ACS and IBM i Access for Windows software cannot be used for installation on cloud PC.
    Needed some advise on how to install the software on cloud PC. Is there any appx bundle or application package available for this software? If not, is there any alternative solution?

    Yes, I would like to know too. We are planning to move to the cloud and we need to migrate our 7000 machines with IBM ACS on with Intune. 

    Anyone did that? We don't know anyone

    Hi, 

    You can shared a folder with ACS binary, and deploy a shorcut to the pc which point to the share to do that. 

    ACS readme give process to do that. After that configure the conf file as you and all pc can launch from the share

    Hi, ACS is just a portable and bundle product. 

    You can install on PC or using as JAVA application using acsbundle.jar and set the .HOD session on a shared or local folder. 

    Here an example using on OneDrive or https://www.nicklitten.com/ibm-i-acs-full-install-or-standalone/

    Yo c an choose not to install but call only JAR file and choose JDK to startIT.

    Mass deploy can be copy the folder on remote cloud PC. , other story is if you need also the add-on  JDBC , AFP ...

    Take a look about AcsConfig.properties file where you can find info how to share session and user dir for ACS.

    The problem with all these guides are that they are made for manual installation. We need to install this software unattended and silently without human intervention. Therefor, an msi is always better than those crappy jar files. We figured out how to do this but we will migrate in the future to Intune and we're wondering how to package this in the cloud to deploy this unattended.
