  • 1.  Can SMBC Mount a Sub-Directory in a Windows Share?

    Posted Mon December 04, 2023 01:44 PM

If the Windows share \\someserver\toplevel exists, and if the directory \toplevel\sublevel1\sublevel1a exists, can the SMB client mount \\someserver\toplevel\sublevel1\sublevel1a directly?  It appears like the answer is no, because the mount for \\someserver\toplevel is working, but the mount for \\someserver\toplevel\sublevel1\sublevel1a fails.  We have verified that the credentials used for the mount may access \sublevel1a.

This can be done using SMB between Windows clients and servers.

The AIX SMB Client does not support the mounting of sub-directories within a share. If you would like to see this feature please support the IBM Idea at https://ideas.ibm.com/ideas/AIX-I-703
