Hi Russell,
we removed the Python LPP fileset completely from our environment and set the path to the Toolbox version of python without any problems.
We had problems with some python scripts that needed additional modules that where not available without compiling. As we don't have the xlC compiler licensed, the scripts all failed to work after migrating to AIX 7.3 and it was easier to remove python from the lpars than editing all the scripts...
kind regards,

Subject: AIX 7.3, removing python?
I opened a ticket with IBM support to confirm.
Python can be removed, nothing in the base OS requires it.
For PowerHA, it's only the Web UI and cloud tools. If those aren't in use then it isn't needed.

Since some PowerHA version (7.2.6?, 7.2.5?) there are some PowerHA utilities using Python.

I know AIX 7.3 includes a Python runtime environment, which is required if you use Ansible.
To minimize the install footprint and CVE exposure in a non-Ansible environment, can Python be removed?
