sorry - my fault.
It is not really an update. You need to put that into "Installing new Software" (I hope it is the right translation because I use the German version).
There you need to install everything which appears when you enter the URL.
It is still the same eclipse version (as far as I can see when I compare it to Wim's Screenshot) but there are some other things installed. I guess these components are needed that the Plug Ins are working.
iSphere and iRPGUnit are installed now.

Hi Markus,
sounds interesting, but how did you manage to update?
I've the Eclipse Neon update site to the "Available Update Sites" and triggered "Check for Updates", but the result was that no updates were found.

Thanks Oliver,
after opening a new Ticket at IBM Mike Hockings told me a trick to make an update to the underlying eclipse 4.6 which allows me now to install my plug Ins!!!!
Thanks Mike again!
With the new Installation Manager I could also install the RDi on Windows 11 for ARM and was able to install the Plug Ins as well. It took several restarts until it worked again but now it looks like it's working.
That is a big step forward to me.
Nevertheless it should be an actual eclipse version under the hood and official support for actual Operating Systems.
The Update for eclipse 4.6 (Neon) you find here
Eclipse Project Update Sites
My impression is, that eclipse is faster now after this updates.
I need to work with that installation to see if everything is stable.
Hope that helps others too.

Hi Markus,
I feel you. I was hoping to get our IBM i developers (COBOL) to work directly on their Macs, but no way... so they still have to use WDSc 7 on a Windows VM.
Just tried the most recent IM for macOS Big Sur (1.9.2001) but no luck. It's kind of sad.

Hi there,
the last comment was from August 2021. Now we 2022... Any news about installing Plug Ins on Mac?
I did manage to install 9.6.0.11 on my MacBook Pro with M1 Max and Monterey but still can't install any Pug In like iSphere or iRPGUnit.
I am an IBM i Partner for 24 years now and work with this unique and fantastic Server sind 1991 but one of the worst things IBM ever did was and is RDi and the way they handle it now. We need to get new and younger people to the platform but with this RDi it is really hard. Developers who are used to work with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code or even actual Eclipse Versions (4.22 is actual and RDi is still using 4.6!!!!) think twice (or more) if they really want to do this while there are 1000 other Jobs where they can use actual tools and Frameworks on actual Operating Systems and Hardware.
I thought it would be a good idea to install a VM with Parallels on my Mac but on the M1 Macs you only can install Windows 11 for ARM.
On Windows 11 for ARM I am not able to even install RDi.... even Windows 11 supports x64 Emulation now and that is working for many Windows Applications.
So it is not only Mac OS BigSur or Monterey - it is ACTUAL Operating Systems on actual Hardware which is not supported and this is a no go for a Tool which you have to pay for.
If it would be Open Source maybe some people would accept that but I am sure that it wouldn't be that worse if it is Open Source because in that case I am quiet sure that some people already solved these issues. So why isn't IBM or Help Systems doing that (as far as I am informed Help Systems is developing the RDi since 2017)?
Sorry for that hard words but I am fighting to get more people on the platform (for 30 years now) and we need a lot of new people on that platform and it looks like everybody is interested in that but not IBM...
Many thanks for your feedback and hopefully good news!?!

Hi,
yes I did.
Everything (InstallationManager, RDI) is installed under $HOME/IBM/. Tried installing from the IBM site and from locally unpacked zip files... no difference. Installation always ends with warning.
In fact, as far as I can remember on Catalina I had the same effect, when not using the "recommended" version (1.8.4) of InstallationManager... maybe there is still something wrong with IM?
Has someone been able to install other plugins to RDi on Big Sur?

What typer of install did you do ? And did you follow the instructions that Jack posted?
Until I did a user install I had the same problem with Catalina and adding plugins.

Hi,
I was able to install RDi on macOS Big Sur and it's kind of working: I haven't manage to install further plug-ins to RDi, the installation always fails, example RSE Extensions from Softlanding (link to RSE Extensions):
So although the installation succeeds (but with an error/warning ass seen in post 31), it's not working correctly.
Any suggestions?
Regards, Oliver

OMG ... so the trick is,
- Go to IBM Community
- find a topic about RDi
- find a link posted by Eric Simpson (because no search on IBM webbage will find this link)
- download Installation Manager from the link
- Install Installation Manger
- Find Installation manager hidden in your home directory in a subdir
- go back to the RDi installation page
- Find the repository link for loading RDi via Installation Manger
- Load RDi and ignore the error messages
- Find RDi hidden in your home directory in a subdir
- Launch the app.
Simple enough ... :) Thanks, Eric

And the installation manager link on the "Download RDi Trial" page takes me to ... a backlevel version of Installation Manager.
Searches are fruitless.
Fix Central can't find it.
Google can't find it.

Hi Jack,
Can you tell me which version of Installation Manager you are using? Version 1.9.1.5 would be the minimum needed.
Can you give some screen shots of the Security messages about dynlib plus also the Java null pointer exception?
Thanks,
Eric

I'm not able to install RDi at all on Mac OS Big Sur 11.5 using any of the instructions I have found.
I've tried using userinst
and after about 12 retries each time having to assure Security that I want to open this or that dynlib all I get out of it is a Java null pointer exception.

Hello Eric,
Many thanks, after doing the installation from the command line, I now have a working IM and was able to update my RDi with IM.
All what is left now , is wait for the official support of RDi for Big Sur.

Hi Rudi,
If you download the latest IBM Installation Manager 1.9.1.5 for mac (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm~Rational&product=ibm/Rational/IBM+Installation+Manager&function=all) and run it (Install.app/Userinst.app), it should upgrade your existing installation.

Hi,
Well I made the error not thinking of RDi when upgrading to Big Sur. Now I have an IM and RDi installation on my Mac, with some challenges I guess. Normally IM is used to upgrade IM itself. IM does not start. RDi does start and seems to work fine, but can not be upgraded due to a not working IM.
So the question is how to fix IM in this situation. if possible.
Or is the best advice to wait for RDi support for Big Sur?

Hi.
Anyone managed to install RDI on macOS Big Sur? Tried both by doing it through the installation manager and with the product image itself. Had no issues installing ACS or ordinary eclipse, but I can see that the installation manager for mac is from 2019. Get this exception when trying to execute install.app
