Take the Guess Work out of building a Power Server in the Cloud by leveraging Power Virtual Server QuickStart

Introducing Power Virtual Server QuickStart.

For some, understanding and making decisions regarding best options for custom building an enterprise class server in IBM Cloud can be a challenge. For others, maybe they are accustomed to configuration requirements but may need to provide an environment quickly to support a Proof of Concept or other needs.

Power Virtual Server now has another deployment option available in the IBM Cloud Catalog, the Power Virtual Server QuickStart. The new catalog option provides pre-configured virtual servers ready to deploy from the IBM Cloud Catalog. The pre-configured virtual servers are represented by t-shirt sizes ranging from XS to L for AIX and IBM i. A Dev/Test configuration with Linux is available as well.

Power Virtual Server QuickStart eliminates the indecisiveness and accelerates time to value by providing an automated, pre-configured Power Virtual Server instance to be deployed in less than 20 minutes. By leveraging Deployment Architectures, it automates the deployment of a Power Virtual Server with VPC landing zone with the components you need.

Provisions (landing zone) One VPC with one VSI -

  • One inet-svs VSI configured as squid proxy server, jump/bastion, NFS, NTP, DNS server.
  • Installs and configures the Squid Proxy, DNS Forwarder, NTP forwarder and NFS on hosts, and sets the host as the server for the NTP, NFS, and DNS services by using Ansible roles published on ansible galaxy.

A Power Virtual Server workspace instance with the following network topology:

  • Creates two private networks: a management network and a backup network.
  • Creates one or two IBM Cloud connections and connects it to the transit gateway in Non-PER DC. Also attaches the private networks to the IBM Cloud connections.
  • Attaches the PowerVS workspace to transit gateway in PER enabled DC.
  • Creates an SSH key.
  • It also creates one Power virtual server instance of chosen t-shirt size or custom configuration. Supported OS include AIX, IBM i and Linux images.

Additionally, Power Virtual Server QuickStart now enables a Digital Journey for small to medium size consumers. Opening doors for consumers where availability of engineering resources may be limited, now everyone and anyone can deploy an enterprise class Power Virtual Server instance as "self-service" and accelerate their initiative or project.

Getting Start with Power Virtual Server just became as easy as point and click. Additional details <click here>.

Now even easier... new Guided Tour available, just visit the IBM Cloud Catalog help area (?), select Guided Tours. "Welcome to Power" | "PowerVS Get Started"
