  • 1.  IS won't start correctly after fix installation

    WebMethods Integration Server 10.3 Fix #31 (Development environment)



    Hi there! This is my first post on IBM community after the webMethods > IBM community migration. So, I'm sorry if I'm not posting on the right page.

    Please advise if I'm wrong and where I should post this type of topic.

    Detailed explanation of the problem:

    We're trying to install the fix #31 for our I.S 10.3. We're currently on Fix #19.
    However, after using UpdateManagerCMD.sh to install the fix #31, our IS is displaying some exceptions when starting. 
    Also, we can't navigate the IS Admin page, it's only displaying the "Server > Statistics" page and we can't see the menus:

    Please, do you know if need to do any other steps after this fix installation?

    When re-opening the UpdateManagerCMD.sh and checking the available fixes, we have the following list:

     install the fix #31 for our I.S 10.3. We're currently on Fix #19.

    The difference in fix level is very high. The most likely scenario is you are skipping some(or all) of the after install steps. You need to read the readme file of the fix (it pops up before starting the installation which you probably skipped), and read it through to the version you are installing the fix from (fix level #19) and apply them accordingly.  There probably are some steps involving other products such as DBComponentConfigurator or MWS/UM/Terracotta etc.

    By the look of it, you (your company) have extended maintenance agreement (unless you are installing fixes from an image which also needs to be created by an account having an extended maintenance). You can create a ticket and ask help from support.

    When the fixes have accumulated, it is easy to miss some of those steps if not all. You can try uninstalling the fixes and try applying them again, but I doubt it will resolve your issue without applying after install requirements.

    In each of the readme-files of fixed in between the starting point and the endpoint of your major upgrade there might be manual actions required. 
    The use of the DB configurator tool in order to upgrade the IS DB schema is the most common case, but there might also be other settings to be adjusted that for safety reasons, or because your already customized the same your own, the upgrade process itself would not touch.  Those you need to understand and execute. 
    Those fixed themselves finally might pull other dependencies (and see also readme!!) that can cause effects when doing such a major version jump.

    160)   [I]     Terracotta 4.3.6 Fix 10 (Upgrades to 4.3.8) (Installed)
161)   [ ]     Terracotta 4.3.6 Fix 37 (Upgrades to 4.3.10)



    As you already noticed there are also many more fixes out for the related components like TSA (Terracotta), UM (Universal Messaging) etc.  Those should also be installed in order to assure they work well together with the upgraded IS. 

    Self explaining 10.3 is an very old version, you should consider upgrade to recent versions like 11.1
