Cloud Pak for Integration 2021.1 Installation
The release of the 2021 Cloud Paks has introduced some significant improvements and changes. Cloud Paks are now more tightly integrated using our common Zen UI, which includes the Automation Hub. Specifically for Cloud Pak for Integration, you will notice that the recommendation for installation is still via the platform navigator, however, the platform navigator will take you to the new Zen UI. Under Administration in the Zen navigation you will see the familiar capabilities and runtimes. That is where you install and configure each of the Cloud Pak components. You can find a lot more information on the main
IBM site
and in the
product documentation
. Also you can find information about the Automation Hub and the common interface leveraging our AI platform across all Cloud Pak data and information.
The purpose of this blog is to give you a run-through of a happy path install of the Cloud Pak for Integration. You can find a 16 minute
video of an installation here
. There are a coupe of key elements to take note of that differ from previous installations. First make sure you choose your storage properly for each component. As mentioned earlier there is much tighter collaboration between the Cloud Paks, so this means requirements trickle down thru all the cloud paks. For instance if you are installing on IBM Cloud (known as ROKS) you will need to choose an FS storage class that has the -gid tag on it. In addition, when installing APIC, make sure you choose block storage. More information, hints and tips in the video as I walk through the install.
The installation of this Cloud Pak is very easy and intuitive, with some fantastic documentation enhancements. The installation should be able to complete in about an hour and that includes having instances of all the components up and running, ready to configure for your specific use case.
