From the IMS Customer Perspective – Some Real-world Experiences

Overview

The IMS Insight Series is intended as a means to bring the IMS community together in order to feature topics including best practices, recommendations, new functionality, demonstrations, workshops, etc., that impact the IMS environment.  Each session will feature a Subject Matter Expert(s) who explore a specific area and provides  the “what”, the “why” and the “how” to address the topic.

One of the IMS application callout capabilities presented in March was the ability to issue HTTP(S) calls by leveraging the z/OS Web Enablement Toolkit. As a follow-on to that specific functionality, which was only introduced briefly last month, this month’s session will explain the capability in greater detail. Additionally, you will have the ability to hear about what’s new in z/OS 3.1.

IMS Insight – z/OS Topics 

Integrating Different Clients z/OS Client Web Enablement Toolkit!  (1hr)

One IMS can service many different clients, each with their own special needs.  This presentation shows considerations and lessons learned when managing this type of environment. Topics include IMS callout, APIs (both inbound and outbound), and the validation and use of the IMS Catalog.  

A Journey Towards IMS Managed ACBs    (1hr)

Covering an IMS ACB to IMS catalog and catalog directories implementation approach, this session detail a customer’s conversion journey.  Walk through the migration strategy, post migration steps and even some do’s and don’ts after the conversion.  Additionally, the IMS Connect security configuration in this environment will be described.
