  • 1.  Zebra Printer ZTZZ411

    Hello,

    I have a Zebra printer that is printing blank labels from the AS/400. A test was performed by sending labels through from a Windows PC and they printed. Could this be a configuration issue, driver needs updated on the device?

    Dear Michael

    From this IBM Technote on IBM i's support for Zebra/Eltron printers at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/information-printers-zebraeltron,  ZTZZ411 is not in the list. As the web page was updated in 2019, it may not contain the most updated info.  If your ZTZZ411 can be set to emulate any one of the models listed in the Technote, you may want to try it.   Otherwise, you may need to contact Zebra support.

    Were you able to get a resolution? I use at least 20 Zebra ZT411's to print labels in my shop. Each label printer has its own IBM i print queue with an IP. Do you need a config?

    I have a customer who can't get a ZD62IT printer to work when directly connected to the IBM i server.  Their prior printer was connected via a Windows PC using printer emulation.

    Our program is outputting proper ZPL commands but nothing prints.  I'm thinking that the network printer using HPT is messing up the ZPL.  I did some research and it found the suggested output should be generated to a *USERASCII prtf and then do NO HPT from a remote outq.

    Can you give me your opinion and share your configuration as Christian asked?

    The setup we use for our Zebra printers is:

     

    Manufacturer type and model  . . . . . :   *WSCST    

    Workstation customizing object . . . . :   QWPDEFAULT

      Library  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :     QSYS    

     

    This does just the basic EBCDIC to ASCII translation needed to send the data and works well for us.

    I contacted Scott directly.

    I sent him a config I use for a ZT411. We utilize TL Ashford Barcode400 so the config is slightly different.

    I also sent him the IBM Various Printers from Mnaufacturer's web link - https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/644669

    I also suggested he reach out to Zebra tech support. I did that for a recent testing of a ZQ630 model. They were good with helping.
