  • 1.  XML data transformation

We have an entire xml message stored in a column in the archive file. We are able to retrieve the entire message back using the select * on the archive file. However, is there a possibility to transform the xml data within the column while displaying the results. In Oracle database, users can use XMLTABLE function to transform the data while querying. Is there any similar function available in Optim/ODM.

    Hi Gopi,

Most likely it should be possible, can you please follow ODM document available under Optim/rt/ODM/doc/OptimConnect_533_User_Guide_and_Reference.pdf.

    Hi,

No, sorry, the ODM function is based off of SQL 92.  I honestly don't know if any XML function was included in SQL 92, but I am not aware of any XML transformations that anyone has done using ODM.

It occurs to me that you might be able to work around this limitation to some extent by connecting the ODM driver to Db2 Federation Server or Oracle federated support, and letting those databases do some XML processing.
