  • 1.  Wotrack Application doesn't respond randomly Maximo 7.6.1.2

    Posted 06/16/23 03:22 PM

Hi, I was notified about a strange issue from a customer, where meanwhile a user is working on Wotrack application, the screen stops responding suddenly and no error is shown but the mouse pointer remains active, for example on the List tab when it's moved, color records on the list are changed but if you click on wonum field, for example, it doesn't respond.

After clicking F5 (refresh) on the screen or going to another app or Start Center, app starts to respond again.

No errors on logging files or thread pool issues are found either. I tried cleaning the browser cache (Chrome) with no result.

Any thought or clue is welcome.

    Thanks for reading

    Hi Pablo,

This is interesting issue. I didn't have it but I would like suggest you few things. As you wrote this issue is randomly and probably it will be not that easy to find the steps to reproduce it but it's always worth to try and maybe also ask end user how thy are using the app. Then you could use developer mode in Chrome (Option + ⌘ + J (on macOS), or Shift + CTRL + J (on Windows/Linux)) to check if there is something strange (errors) in Console and/or Network tabs.

Maybe the problem is somehow connected with asynchronous data validation.

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/turning-asynchronous-data-validation

I also found this IBM Tech note but in that case the whole page frozen:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/maximo-browser-session-freezes-randomly-when-application-security-enabled

    Good luck with investigation.

    Hi Pablo,

We're having the EXACT same issue. We've done the same steps by turning on logging and other steps to see if there is an application issue causing the lock ups. On top of the freezing, this issue is happening to only one of our sites. So with zero log errors being produced and the issue happening in only one site, our applications team said it must be a networking issue. The networking teams since none of the other web based applications at that site are experiencing lock ups, it must be an application issue.

I'm hoping some additional ideas can come out of this thread. I will take a look at the suggestions from @Bartosz Marchewka

I did notice an issue very similar to what your talking about that I tracked down.  Again no log entries were seen on the Maximo server log files and I did use developer mode in Chrome to eventually track down when this was occurring.

It was related to using the Go To Functionality in a Dialog Box that was causing Maximo UI to become unresponsive after returning back to the original.

Hopefully this helps or gives suggestions of where to look.
