Will there be a Power 11, in the IBM i P05 tier, with internal NVMe or SSD storage?

Is there even a Power 10, in the IBM i P05 tier, with internal NVMe or SSD storage?

    Hi Robert,

    Yes, and ... Yes.

Right now we have two different models in Power 10 within group P05 that allows internal Storage. We have the S1012 and the S1014.

IBM pre-announced in first quarter of 2026 they will release the new S1112, and as Power11 will be the only system in the group P05.

    I hope it can help.

So according to the data sheet at https://www.ibm.com/downloads/documents/us-en/107a02e95e48f8dc  the S1022 could have 4 NVMe U.2.

I'm hoping that the ?S1122? will have internal storage also.

When this finally comes out then those software vendors who only want a P05 machine to replace their Power 9 or earlier will finally have a machine they can load IBM i 7.6 on and after they get that tested we can finally upgrade more of our machines to IBM i 7.6.  Many of these vendors will never use a cloud based solution to store their source code.  They also do not want to upgrade to a Power 10 as that likely will not run the follow on to IBM i 7.6 (if IBM's pattern stays consistent).  Who want to buy a machine that will be obsolete in less than three years?

There are no funky rules that the internal storage in the S1022 is reserved only for VIOS, are there?  Because 4 drives sounds suspiciously like 1 mirrored pair for one vios lpar and one mirrored pair for your second vios lpar.

Regarding the "few" information's available... the S1112 will have the same "constraints" that we can find in S1012, for small customers, limited in cores, memory and users, but for several of them will be more than enough or just feet for historical proposes...
