I have heard different people tell me about using Cognos Analytics in a specific browser. So i would like to know which browser Internet Explorer or Google chrome is good for Cognos Analytics and what is the reason for your choice. Your answer might help me take a stable and firm decision rather than being confused with several opinions.

    Hi Jensen,

It's not a direct answer to your question, but hopefully can offer some clarity for you and for anyone reading this. Cognos Analytics fully supports several browsers. The browsers Cognos Analytics supports are as follows:

    Apple Safari (macOS & iOS)
    Google Chrome
    Microsoft Edge
    Microsoft Internet Explorer

Mozilla Firefox

Please refer to this compatibility report to an up-to-date list of which versions of these browsers are supported.

If you are encountering an issue doing something in Cognos Analytics on a particular browser, or the experience in a particular browser is not what you expect, I'd encourage you to reach out to the IBM Support team to try to resolve the issue.

    Hi Jensen,

I am using two different browsers for using Cognos Analytics .

One of them is Firefox, I heard some people are using latest version of Firefox to access CA reports, Cognos Product Team highly recommends end-users DO NOT upgrade to the latest version of FireFox. Please review the Cognos Supported Browsers List Web Page to confirm which browser release you should have installed. If you have installed the most recent version of FireFox, it is recommended you go back to the previous version. Please review the "How do I go back to the previous version of FireFox" instructions on this page ,which mean if you would like to go on using Firefox, then you have to uninstall latest version first, and then install Firefox ESR: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/, which is suggested by Cognos Team (Note:make sure Firefox 60 is selected)

You may want to prevent Firefox from upgrade automatically to latest version through following below steps.
    a. Click the hamburger button on the top right corner.
    b. Click Options and then scroll down to Firefox Updates on General page, make sure all of settings is as same as following screenshot.
Another one is Google Chrome, it may consume more memory, forget about it if your pc/mac book are strong enough, I heard Microsoft is trying to optimizing it for Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser.

    @Jensen Binoji

    Jensen,

If you use any of the legacy studios (Query Studio, Analysis Studio for cubes) then your only option is IE, since these studios are not supported in Chrome.

Otherwise, I would use Chrome as it is more responsive and tend to be faster than IE.

    Hi Jensen,

If you want to use legace studios : QS, AS, RS or PowerPlay Studio IE is recomanded. For 11.X.X Firefox and Chrome are faster, especially when using dashboards, storys and explorations.
If you want to use FireFox install ESR version.
