  • 1.  Emails: Breaking Change - Oauth2 support?

Microsoft has announced that starting October 1, 2022, basic authentication will be turned off for specific protocols in Exchange Online (link).

Since this change will break many reading email bots, when will IBM RPA release Oauth2.0 support for the Email Server Connections?

Idea has been created, just in case:

    Hi Martin,

I had a conversation with our offering managers and this is something that is on their radar right now - things are in motion, just do not have any dates as of right now.

I will keep you updated with any news!

    Best,

    Gabriel

As of now, the idea has been updated to "Under Review." Hopefully the team will be up to the challenge to get this change in prior to October 1 deadline.

As of version 21.05 released September 27, storage providers and email providers will now allow you to connect accounts to them by using the OAuth 2.0 protocol.

Connections to email providers will now support both Basic Authentication and OAuth 2.0. You can read more here: Connections with external apps.

Thanks for this important update.  However,  I am required to re-authorize my Outlook connection every hour which is not practical. Is this something that can be extended?

I confirm that we are having the same problem, after a while we have to re-authorize it for imap reading to work.

    any update on this?

    Thanks,

    Hey Nigel & Felipe,

Unfortunately I do not have any good news to share. I have gotten a response back from IBM Support, and they have informed me that this is a known issue and that they are looking to get this resolved in a future version. The current "workaround" is to continuously reauthorize the connection. Maybe a bot can assist with this?

Those with sufficient permissions can view and subscribe to the known issue here: https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/defect/aCI3p000000Xk3G/dt168603?language=en_US
