  • 1.  What is Dataset service?

    Hi cognos experts,
    I have tried to read and understand a pdf on tips for improving performance of cognos 11.1.7.this guide is present on accelerator catalog.
    It talks about a "dataset service".
    What is the role of this service?is another name for refering to query service ? Or is the "compute service" introduced in 11.1 for loading and querying dataset?


    I havent found much on official documentation,so here i am....

    HI, 

    I have been trying to clean up my log files before upgrading from 11.1.7. I keep getting this error message "HttpServletResponseCode for /bi/v1/proxy/dataset-service/health is in error: 503"

    I am not sure what the correct URL is expected for this or what to look for in the config to clean this up.

    Service responsible for executing datasets and uploaded files queries. It is Spark, in Cognos known as Flint Service/Compute Service.

    This message "/bi/v1/proxy/dataset-service/health is in error: 503"" is common while Cognos is starting.

    If the service does not starts, we may investigate issues. Perhaps, not enough resources. Just cleaning logs is not the issue.

    The dataset set service is the Dynamic Query engine. (see cogconfig UX).

    Compute Service is a child process of Dynamic Query, by default uses a dynamic port number.
